People divide binoculars into 2 types. The division is done owing to the method of their structure. Different types prism motivated this division. Lenses and eyepieces in compact binoculars are situated on the optical that is common and it gives compactness to a binocular.

In zooms with Porro prism the optical axis of the lenses is wider than the visual axis of the ocular. This is the explanation of such huge dimensions of a binocular. But the thing is that you receive a better picture.

The purpose of zoom factor is to do the object of observation nearer. For example, the object that is situated in 100 meters from you will be observed as from 10 meters through a 10-fold binocular. Due to this the nearness of the object depends on the quantity of a zoom factor. But bear in mind that a very quantitative zoom factor has its own discomfort. The objects in your binocular will tremble of every sigh with a high zoom quality. Such binoculars are utilized just with a stand or any other support.
